OK, it's official, the Mavs clinched a spot in the playoffs. Phew. What a relief. I just hope they're getting their stuff together during the playoffs... NBA Standings

The following is for those teams that just couldn't make the playoffs this year. And to be totally honest, if the Mavs hadn't made it this year I would not have found it funny.

Yeah, it's sad, especially when you think about how close the first 2 games had been. But it ain't over till it's over, so we'll just wait and see and hope for the best.

Yupp. I totally agree. As I would've said in German: Ein Satz mit "x" - das war wohl nix!" In the German media there was an article I could wholeheartedly agree with: This season's team was not the team of 2011 with Tyson Chandler, J.J. Barea etc. gone... According to the article this is due to the fact that Marc Cuban seems to hope to get Deron Williams for the 2012/2013 season (and probably Dwight Howard as well) and wanted to save money to get those players. Idk. But it's sad that this was just a clean sweep for Oklahoma, and in 1st round. On the bright side - for the players it probably makes no difference if it's a 1st or 2nd round exit, they just have more time to relax during the summer now and get some rest after this weird short but intense season...

I agree Jerry and things could get worse. Jason Kidd says that if he doesn't the deal he wants he'll retire and Jason Terry's contract is up for renewal as well and he could get traded like J.J. Barea. So if those two go and we don't get Howard, Deron Williams or Steve Nash... poor Dirk Cuban really will have screwed him over.

I just hope that Mark Cuban takes Dirk's opinion into his consideration when it comes to the roster for next season. I know Dirk stated time and again that Cuban had been a great club owner, doing the things he has to do, that he truly wanted to keep Dirk on his roster and make the championship happen for Dallas - with Dirk. But then again I'm not so sure how "sentimental" (or loyal) Cuban gets when it comes to make business decisions. So when it truly comes to overhauling the roster and a lot of veterans might leave the team I could imagine that Cuban wouldn't build a team around Dirk anymore but starting to build a completely new team for the future instead - with Dirk probably not being the center of the Mavericks anymore. Besides, Cuban could start "experimenting", he doesn't have to play safe since they've finally won the championship, which might also have slightly improved his prospects of getting high profile players in the future... Guess we just have to wait and see. Well, let's hope for the best...

Cuban wants to "experiment" with the Mavs to where it could cost him Dirk? (Heaven Forbid for Dirk's sake) My opinion of Mark Cuban is low and if I offend anyone I apologize beforehand. Mark Cuban is a short sh*t with a Napoleon complex. His biggest dream seems to have been able to play basketball and he couldn't so he decided to by the Mavs ( for which I'm grateful for, I'll give him credit for that). But Cuban must still secretly harbor the desire to play pro ball and is destroying the winning Mavericks team in order to get on the court and play professional ball himself. Plus, he can not accept the responsibility of bad decision making because now he is saying an article that it is the new Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Mavs loss in the playoffs. bleacherreport.com/tb/bgC7h?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=nba

Besides, I'm still a little bit torn when it comes to Mark Cuban. I mean his success in business proves that he is a brilliant business man. I also acknowledge his passion for basketball and the Mavs and that he's investing (A LOT) in them. And Dirk speaks highly of him, so I consider that as well. But as for the private person Mark Cuban - well, apparently I haven't met him, maybe he's a good friend to some and a great family guy, but... a lot of his public appearances I truly dislike. I can't stand it when it comes to him giving interviews while he is on the stepper, working out and sweating. I mean, c'mon, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Either he thinks that multi-tasking is very cool and he is spending his precious time in a very efficient way or he's so happy with his athleticism that he has to show it off – whereas in truth it's just plain ridiculous and - quite frankly - disrespectful to the journalists. Mark Cuban is NOT a baller, he is the owner for heaven's sake. When all the athletes manage to interrupt their workouts, shoot arounds etc. and talk to people I would like to think that Mark Cuban could also find some time despite his heavy workout schedule to give interviews when he's NOT on the stepper. It's like: "Hey, look how driven I am, I love sports and I'm too important to give a decent interview, so just be happy I could squeeze you into my busy workout plan. Oh, and don't mind the fact that I'm standing a foot above you and sweating right into your faces now." Well, sorry, it doesn’t make him look cool, it just make him look ridiculous. Every time I see this it reminds me of the habit of French kings (I think it was around Louis XIV) to gather politicians and counsellors around them while the king was sitting on the privy, tending to his morning business while discussing politics and state affairs with their counsellors. Whereas the counsellors had to consider it an honor to be witnesses of such stately manner. No, thank you very much. And I still think that Mark Cuban will have no sentiments of making business decisions, that other people might not be comfortable with. With "experimenting" I didn't mean he will get rid off Dirk, but that he probably will look a little further into future and look for a "Dirk 2.0", a player who will take over Dirk's role while Dirk is still on the team. I am pretty sure that Mark Cuban strictly separates sentiments/private things and business. And when it comes to make business decisions he will make no mistake of getting sentiments in the way, no matter what. As I said, a brilliant business man, but it doesn't win him the hearts of other people exactly. Then again, he's probably absolutely fine with that. Yes, it's sad that the season is already over again and we don't get to see Dirk and the other Mavs for quite a while. And it's sad that we don't know what will happen next season. Will we see Jason Kidd again? JET? It must be bittersweet for them to head into their summer break. But I hope they will have a nice summer and can relax for a change.
