The NBA Draft starts this evening and the Dallas Mavericks have the 17th spot in the first round, so it will more than likely take time before we find out who the Mavs choose. In other Mavs news, which you may have heard already, Lamar Odom has reportedly been traded to the L.A. Clippers by the Mavs in a three-way deal involving the Utah Jazz. According to Dallas Morning News reporter, Eddie Sefko : The Mavericks have agreed to send the troubled Odom to the Clippers, who in turn will ship (Mo) Williams to the Utah Jazz, who will send a trade exception from the Mehmet Okur deal to the Mavericks, an NBA source said.
All three teams have agreed to the deal. All that has to happen to make it official is for Williams to exercise the player option on his contract for next season, which would pay him $8.5 million.bleacherreport.com/articles/1240281-mavericks-reportedly-agree-to-trade-lamar-odom-to-clippers-in-3-way-blockbuster?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=dallas-mavericks

Well Crap!! Some bad news on the Dallas Mavericks front... JET is leaving. Jason Terry is expected to sign with the Boston Celtics on July 11. Sounds like the rats are jumping ship or Mark Cuban is forcing them to walk the plank. And leaving Dirk all own his own and with slimmer chances of getting a second Championship ring. www.foxsportsflorida.com/07/04/12/Terry-leaves-Mavs-Boston-likely-next-sto/msn_landing.html?blockID=756420&feedID=10140 Plus Deron Williams is staying with the Nets, Jason Kidd may not return to the Mavericks and they trade Tyler Zeller to Cleveland Cavaliers for three draft picks, I'm still trying to figure out who the Mavs chose.

Is it set in stone already? I think I've read an article which says that JET considers to join the Celtics, but will opt for Dallas if they were willing to pay the same amount as Boston... ?! Might be old news though and who knows if Cuban is willing to pay the same amount as Boston? I was also surprised to see that Steve Nash is joining the Lakers... But in fairness, chances for him of winning the championship are probably bigger with the Lakers than with the Toronto Raptors...

According to the article Jerry, it's a done deal with Terry going to Boston. Have to admit him leaving Dallas is a shocker I thought for sure he was a Mav for life. I really don't understand why Cuban didn't offer him another contract, especially with Cuban's billions. What a fool he is. JMO guys. Nash leaving for LA is another shocker Thought that guys would retire a Sun. Can't say I blame him though, with the way that team has gone downhill with Amare and other key players leaving. Maybe he will get that ring after all.

More bad news for Maverick fans, Jason Kidd is leaving Dallas for the New York Knicks. Now this morning it was being reported that he was going to be staying with Dirk. But Dwain Price, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday that Jason Kidd is going. And the deal that New York offered him is similar to what Dallas offered, 3 years for $9 million. He is going to be the backup and mentor to Jeremy Lin ( if he stays). Mark Cuban has blown up the Dallas Mavericks to smithereens. No Deron Williams because Dirk is traveling and Cuban was more interested on being in a reality show than meeting with him; let JET go for whatever reason; and slept on trying to get Nash back to Dallas. That just leaves Roddy Beaubois as a point guard and he can only do so much. www.foxsportssouthwest.com/07/04/12/Report-Kidd-spurns-Mavs-for-Knicks/msn_landing.html?blockID=756450&feedID=3577

Bummer! I have to say I'm sad to see him leave. So who is still left from the championship team?! Dirk, Matrix, Brian and Roddy... It almost seems to me that Cuban isn't really planning on winning the Championship the next year or the year after, but instead he has giving up on the next 2 seasons completely. Instead of making subtle changes to the team he seems to crash the team and build a completely new team in the next few years. I know it's a business and part of the franchise, but as a fan it makes me just sad. Changes are necessary, sure. I can understand that. Still, when SO many players get replaced and when there is this constant change of players it makes it hard to identify with "your" team.

According to a June 5 report from ESPN Dirk says that he is too old to rebuild the Mavericks. He even goes as far as to call himself the grandfather of Dallas sports. Well Dirk, darling, I have this to say to you : Mark Cuban just SCREWED the hell out of you and you have no choice but either rebuild or better yet salvage what is left of the Dallas Mavericks. espn.go.com/blog/dallas/mavericks/post/_/id/4690648/dirk-nowitzki-im-too-old-to-rebuild

I can't believe all the changes that the Mavericks are going through!! And losing so many good players!!! It won't be the same without Jason Kidd! That is sad!! One silver lining in this dark cloud is Chris kamen coming to Dallas , being Dirk and he are friends and played together on team Germany!

Okay as we all probably know by now O.J.Mayo is a Maverick and I've been slow of late of keeping things up to date here on the forum. So I am going to try my best at getting caught up. So O.J. Mayo agreed to a multi-year deal with the Mavericks. The exact terms are not known, but it is a two-year deal with a player option in the second year. The Mavericks had about $4 million left in the cap space remaining. Mayo will become the teams 11th player under contract, along with three rookies. And even though they are interested in re-signing Delonte West the Mavs have yet to re-signed him. espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/id/8172520/source-oj-mayo-agrees-multiyear-deal-dallas-mavericks

The Smartest Moves for Every NBA Team During the Off Season By Michael Dunlap Dallas Mavericks Smartest Move : Having a Plan B " The Dallas Mavericks really wanted Deron Williams and thought they had a great shot considering he's from the area. Once that fell through, the Mavericks immediately went to the secondary plan. They acquired Chris Kaman, Elton Brand, O. J. Mayo, Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones all within a week to ease the pain of watching Williams fall through their finger. It's not surprising that Mark Cuban would be fully prepared. The Mavericks are trying to rebuild and look to the future without wasting the last few years of Dirk Nowitzki's career. They appear to be doing that and I wouldn't be shocked if they were a middle seed in the Western Conference." bleacherreport.com/articles/1276957-the-smartest-move-for-every-nba-team-during-the-offseason/page/8

I for one wonder what that reporter, in the article posted previously, was taking when he wrote that piece. For me my stomach still feels like the bottom fell out after the hack job Mark Cuban did to the Mavericks. I don't really think that our Dirk and the Mavs will do too good this season. If the had been left intact instead of being neutered, I think the Mavs would be alright. But then I have a feeling that most if not all Mav fans feel the same way.
