When I was in high school I had a black cat & a white cat. The black one was Katey & the white one was Cassandra, Cassie for short. And as far as Katey was concerned Cassie was her baby.Katey even chased a Malamute down the road because it got to close to her yard and Cassie. Poor dog tail tuck between it's leg and yelping all the wy home.

Awww!! How cute Michele. the one cat being so motherly and protective of the other one!!! I never had a pure white cat. i had a solid black cat and a black and white, but never all white. I had a grey and white tabby that had a lot of white on his face that reminds me of this kitty here!!!

If a white cat's eyes stay blue the cat is deaf. That's how Cassie was.

The dog wasn't picking on Cassie. It was minding it's own business just sniffing around and off Katey went. But the story with the 2 cats is that we went to get Katey fixed and found out she was in heat. A few days later my Mom goes to the grocery store and comes home with Cassie and I swear that I am telling the God's honest truth, Katey instantly came out of heat. It was like she wanted a baby and now she had one. Went to get hem both fixed and my Mom told them to take Katey first but the vet's office didn't listen and went for Cassie and they got tore up by Katey. They were in the same carry case. Had a Lhasa poo at the same time that every time we made an appointment to get her fixed she'd get tonsillitis. Finally, the vet said to bring her when we could so that's what happened. Had some strange cats Katey liked spaghetti with the sauce and had another one that liked pastrami and thought that the microwave made glazed doughnuts. Because we'd warm up the doughnuts and it would beep and Topaz would want until he thought that everything that came out of it was a doughnut. He'd squall for the pastrami so much my Mom started calling him Pasqually.

Oh wow I was thinking the dog was bothering the cat!! Wow the dog wasn't doing anything and still Katey is that protective over Cassie. That is so sweet!! Michele I really enjoy your cat stories. So cute. I can picture the stuff happening and how the cats look when I read it. That would really be so cool if you wrote a book, cat lovers would buy it and enjoy it. All the memories of the cats you had past and present. One of the orange tabbies we had was a quirky cat. First off he was REALLY sensitive. The other cats bullied him. My brothers said the cat was "gay"! Poor thing, he was neutered, so IDK if he liked male cats or female in that way! haha!! But my brothers made fun of the cat because he was a bit of a sissy. Also he was afraid of men. Only man he liked was my father. My brothers, boyfriends, male friends, male cousins he'd run and hide from. But he was really friendly and affectionate with my mom, sister and me and all females that visited he was fine with!! And how he drank milk and water was really funny, he'd dip his paw in the bowl and lick it off his paw! He was a cute cat!!

That was mean of your brother to call the cat"gay".Some cats are more skittish than others. For the most part I think it has something to do with the female voice which is more soothing for cats. Your dad may have spent quite a bit of time and didn't call the cat gay is probably why the cat was comfortable with him.

Has anyone else here had experience with kitties with FIP?(Feline Infectious peritonitis) I adopted a couple of kitties a while after having my cat put to sleep-she had terminal breast cancer and was suffering. So I got two kitties-each from a different litter. One of them turned out to have FIP, and she had to be put to sleep a couple of months after I adopted her. She was only 5 months old. I haven't met anyone else who has had a pet with this disease. (Sorry for the downer post, but I was wondering)

A couple of years ago, we lost Domino, our 15-year-old black and white male. And we had him from when he was a kitten. He died from kidney failure. I know, different circunstances but I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet.

That is sad Spurred. I never heard of that. Like that feline leaukemia. I had a friend whos cat died from that. It is sad to lose a pet. I had a cat die from being hit by a car! It was really sad! Sorry about Domino too Sallie!!! Michele oh I know brothers. My mom used to get so mad that he was saying the cat was gay. That made my brother do it more. Being a bratty 13 year old or so, and of course at that age boys say everything is gay and call everyone a faggot, including cats !! !! And my older brother was about 21 and he didn't tease the cat as much but he joined in, i think really more to get my mother riled up than anything.

I don't think I've heard of FIP, unless when the vet gives the cat it's annuals. I've had2 cats die of the breast cancer. Went through umpteen surgeries with Daisy and with Katrina we took her to the vet to get her shots and a few days later she wasn't doing good and took her back and she had a lump. Poor thing was too far gone so I had her put to sleep. i was with her and it seemed that no sooner did the needle come out of her, she was gone.
