Can you believe the season is already over now?! The MAVS deserve their time off but I'm going to miss them. ;D ENJOY YOUR OFF-SEASON, MAVERICKS! IT WAS A WONDERFUL SEASON WITH A PERFECT ENDING! THANK YOU!

... oh, and before I start into the weekend here's an old interview in 2 parts with Dirk from 1997, one year before he got drafted into the NBA. I had posted it on the previous board before (I think), but somebody had been so kind and added English subtitles now, so you can all enjoy. The back then 19-yr-old Dirk had been introduced as an upcoming talent in basketball. It's so funny to watch it in hindsight. He admired Kobe Bryant ("Kobe could become a superstar" --> little did he know that in 2011 he would sweep Kobe out of the playoffs ;D) and when asked "So, when do we get to see you in the NBA" he answered: "I don't know. Maybe never." Enjoy and see you on Monday! Pt. 1 Pt.2

... I was looking forward so much to next season and even considering getting the NBA league pass (so I could watch the games on demand and not at 3 or 4am), when it finally hit me: What about the LOCKOUT?! Is it happening or not? Oh god, I hope not. German teams are already trying to sign up Dirk for the period of time when there might be a lockdown, so he could play for their team meanwhile and wouldn't have to pause for months (He once said for him (and "with his age") pausing for several months or even a year was impossible, he simply couldn't afford it to rest for such a long time and would get out of shape and training... So I'm wondering, news over here about the possibility of a looming lockdown are rather scarce... Do you have heard anything?

Here is a German video with some snippets of the parties in Würzburg after game 6, an interview with Dirk's dad, who states that it's impossible to lure Dirk away from his training or from the stepper for some BBQ "even if you tell him that the sausages or the steaks are ready". And some official of Würzburg stated that thanks to Dirk they have increasing numbers of tourists - the vast majority of foreign tourists being American. ;D I wonder why. And this article says that Dirk is supposed to be back in Würzburg on June 28th and they're planning a big reception, 15,000 fans expected. Don't know if it's true or not, but it's stated by a well-known radio station with good reputation, so... Oh, and according to this article Dirk doesn't know about the reception yet (I wonder if he knows that he is supposed to be in Germany on June 28th... ;D)

I did not know until a little while ago that Dirk threw out the first pitch tonight at the Rangers game. Need to find video of it. Hopefully better than John Wall's.

Nice of ESPN to have an article already about Dirk throwing out the pitch tonight. He took a basketball out to the mound with him, if I read the article right. He is going home to Germany this weekend, so apparently no Cayman Islands unless that trip was done earlier. He also talks about maybe having a parade in Wurzburg because J.J. Barea had two parades in Puerto Rico. sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=6700025

I've seen JJ Barea's pics of his parades... Oh no, I don't think we can compete with that! ;D I'd love to be there, but I can't make it. But as long as he gets a nice reception... And thanks for posting the ESPN video with his first pitch!
